100,000 was definitely a low estimation for this first volume… However, I’m going to finish it first before trying to reduce it down to an “acceptable” amount of words. I don’t want to start restraining myself and end up losing my momentum just out of fear of “not doing it right”; moreover, 100k is the usual US count, and things are a little different in France. This is why I’m not going to wory my head over this yet.
The two main characters are now introduced, along with the little bit of information that will come back full force in the second and third volumes. I probably didn’t have to place it here, but I also don’t want to bring it in later on without any warning–it feels like a hair in the soup.
